A Day of Strategic Leadership
In 1918, a young army Captain was tasked with the unimaginable assignment to teach thousands of soldiers to drive the first armored vehicles produced to be used in combat. Invented two years earlier, tanks were not only new, but not plentiful. In today’s world this would not seem like a difficult task, but in 1918 in Gettysburg Pennsylvania it was almost impossible. Without tanks or an SOP, the young commander set to work. The experiences of Dight D. Eisenhower as a Captain, General, and President offer an excellent resource for the study of leadership: the complexity of battle, the size of the opposing armies, and the wide spectrum of personalities represented by the military leadership offers a wide range of perspectives. Character, communication, team building, humility, flexibility, resilience, strategic or visionary thinking, problem solving under pressure, and accountability.
We have never had a leadership training so positively received by our program development team. Our team members learned history, leadership, and direct applications to their jobs. Jim, Eric, and Jody are experts in the history and well versed in the corporate world and today’s news and culture. They are proficient at tying it all together. Most important, our team members had an unparalleled bonding experience that they talk about to this day and that they will never forget. We get asked constantly when we will do something like it again.
